The idea: working together to achieve our goal

Cooperation of municipal utilities for municipal utilities

Trianel Windkraftwerk Borkum GmbH & Co. KG was founded in 2008 to produce competitive electricity from offshore wind in the North Sea. The predominantly municipal shareholders were united by the goal of renewable energy supply: shaping the future with and for municipal utilities.

In the meantime, a fund managed by Swiss Life Asset Managers has joined the group of shareholders of the offshore wind farm, contributing to the goal of expanding renewable power generation, side by side with the municipal companies.

Trianel and strong partners

The shareholders have demonstrated a pioneering spirit and committed themselves to the energy transition at an early stage. By expanding electricity generation from offshore wind energy, they are driving the expansion of renewable energy. Following the successful planning, development and construction of the Trianel Wind Farm Borkum in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) off the island of Borkum (North Sea), business activities have focused on operating the wind farm since 2015.
